Is speech therapy covered by insurance or OHIP?

Accepted Answer

Private speech therapy is not covered by OHIP, but most extended health insurance plans provide coverage (typically $500–$2000/year). Whatever isn’t covered by insurance you can use as a medical expense for your taxes. I provide detailed receipts for you to submit to your provider for reimbursement. Please check with your benefits coordinator for your specific coverage.

What ages do you work with, and do you see children with autism?

My practice focuses on the early years, including toddlers, preschoolers (ages 2–5), and early elementary children up to age 8, as well as older children and adults. I work with children on the autism spectrum and help all children develop their language abilities, focusing on functional communication and play-based therapy.

I am a fully registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with CASLPO and have over 30 years of experience. My clinical background includes working in one of the major teaching hospitals in Toronto, in a private school system, as well as private practice. This diverse experience helps me provide high-quality support for long-term communication results.

Yes! Parent coaching is included in every session. I teach you effective, evidence-based strategies to support your child's speech and language development at home during your everyday routines. This partnership is a key part of seeing faster progress in your child's communication.

Do you offer online/virtual speech therapy or only in-person sessions?

Accepted Answer

I offer both! I have a clinic for in-person sessions in North York (Sheppard Ave E & Bayview) and provide online speech therapy via a secure video platform for families anywhere in Ontario. Many families appreciate the flexibility and convenience of virtual sessions.
